This was a group project assigned to us based on our summer assignment "Enrique's Journey". We were assigned to focus on one of the Rhetorical technqiues used in the books such as logos, and quote and explain parts in the book where it is used. We used the template of SOAPS to introduce the author, audience, and the objective of the book.
This was the first Rhetorical Terms quiz given to us in Humanities 101. Based on the vocabulary we learned and used in the first unit, we had to memorize and correctly connect the word to the definition. I was able to get a 15/15, ( a 100), on this quiz.
We were tasked to write a narrative about our experiences with reading. The memory could be either good or bad but has to connect to our current views on reading. We had to write about how our experiences contributed to our current reading ability's and our feelings towards reading.
The Literacy Memory map is almost a visual map of our Literacy Narrative. Unfortunately, I was not able to get a picture of my final poster but I was able to get the document on which I brainstormed on. On this poster, we had to include 5 memory's that relate to reading. We would then use our poster as an inspiration for our narrative, but I chose this assignment because it was a very fun project. It reminded me of elementary projects where we would color and cut to craft a poster.
This assignment had us look for articles on the NY Times websites. We then had to write down the date when we read it, write down the author, and a in depth paragraph briefly describing the main points in the essay. We had to do this for 10 different articles.
The Socratic Seminar was based on the book, "The 1619 Project". Each group had to pick one of the essays in the book and then create 3 questions each based on the essay. After we completed our preparation, each group had to lead a conversation.
In out last unit we read the book, "The 1619 Project". The 1619 Project by Nikole Hannah-Jones, talk about slavery in America and how it has created Modern America. In our original argument, we had to either defend or support the argument conveyed in the book.
After we created our first draft of our Original Argument, we were tasked to self evaluate our progress so far. To make sure our essay was crafted to the best of our ability, we had to go over every part and answer questions amde specifically for each section. Based on our answers and these questions, we can conclude whether or draft needs more work or has meet all the criteria.
