Research Paper on the Great Depression
December 16, 2022
After we discussed the different events and contributions in World War II, we were put into groups were we were to research about the effects of a certain group of things that were involved in World War II. Our group gathered research on alliances and leaders involved in World War II. We had to use our research to make a presentation discussing who, what, where, and how these alliances cam to be between these leaders as well as how that affected World War II. The presentation took about two class days, but we were able to finish it and understand everything we had learned to be able to present to the class. Since it was a presentation as a group, we divided the slides so that each member would be able to speak about what they understood. I think that I did a good job on knowing my information and responding to the class when asked a question in a reasonable manner. My presentation skills seem to have improved through this project which is why I was very proud of it since I was able to understand the impact alliances and leaders had on World War II.

After we concluded our analysis of the Great Depression, we were to work as group to further enhance our knowledge on how it affected a certain group of people. In our group, we were tasked with understanding the effects the Great Depression had on women and then write about our findings as a research paper. In our paper we discussed what the Great Depression was and why it had a big affect on women. Although it seemed that at the time women were able to find jobs more than others it was still a great hardship for them. We concluded that even the benefits were not great compared to men who even though they were unemployed they did not have to suffer as much. With this project I think that as a group we were able to write about what we had learned and understand surrounding women during the Great Depression.

For Black History Month, our assignment was based a set of criteria. We had the choice to either create a poem, create a piece of artwork, playlist, collage, or anything else that depicts this year's Black History Month theme, Black resistance. I decided to illustrate different ways of resistance. Throughout the years, I saw how words and protests flowed as one when people needed to speak up and show there refusal to a world with no change. I used my calligraphy knowledge to portray words and symbols that I believed is something that is hugely involved in Black Resistance. This project was a assignment were I was able to demonstrate my digital art skills. It was an enjoyable assignment since we were able to choose in what way we were going to portray Black Resistance.

After learning and discussing the Korean War Foreign Policy, we were to imagine ourselves as an advisor for President Eisenhower in 1953. As an advisor we needed to write a foreign policy brief for the president which included a Summary of the Cold War tensions between the US and Soviet Union up to 1953 , historical context surrounding the Korean War, what we think President Eisenhower should do next, and why? I made sure to include historical context as well as the tensions. I described the tensions as something that had been strained throughout the years leading to this interaction and participation in the Korean War. Although I wrote what actions the US should take, I did not successfully finish or close out the whole foreign policy brief. There were some parts that seemed to have confused the reader.
