I've been here at A. L. Stanback for 4 years and I love it!
I grew up in Michigan and then went to Florida State University in Tallahassee which was really fun and much warmer! When I graduated I moved to NC. After a while I went to UNCW to become a teacher and then NCSU to become a school counselor.
My children are four legged. I have a big, fluffy dog named Teddy (aka Bear or Fuzzbutt) and a cat named Smudge. They get along really well and actually play and wrestle!
In my spare time I like reading, walking, gardening , lifting weights, playing in water (my mom called me a "water baby" growing up), walking Teddy in the woods or around my neighborhood and recently I began taking pottery classes.
I look forward to getting to know you while you're here at ALS!
I joined A.L. Stanback in the fall of 2020 and love the sense of community here.
I'm originally from Vermont and have lived in Maine, Chicago and Virginia before coming to NC. I earned my BA at Bates College and M.Ed. at DePaul University. I've worked as an 8th grade ELA teacher and high school counselor, but I love being a middle school counselor the most.
In my free time, I enjoy exploring the many beautiful trails in the area, hanging out with our kids, reading, listening to podcasts and creating art.
Building relationships with our students and families is my favorite part of being a school counselor. I look forward to getting to know you!
The 24-25 school year is my first year at A.L. Stanback.
I grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina. I attended Francis Marion University in South Carolina where I played collegiate soccer. At the completion of my sophomore season, I transferred back home and received my BA in Criminology and Master of Social Work degree from North Carolina State University.
In my leisure time I enjoy playing in an adult soccer league, going on walks, and spending time with my family.
I am so excited to get to know you this school year and provide you with the support you need to be successful!
