The school counselors at AL Stanback Middle School are advocates who assist students in identifying and achieving academic, career, personal, social and emotional goals. Counselors promote and support the educational process by helping students explore their abilities, strengths, interests and talents. Counselors interact not only with students, but also with parents, teachers, administrators, and outside agencies and organizations in order to provide the best educational environment and opportunities for all students.
The primary role of the school counselor is to:
Advocate for students
Support student’s social/emotional development
Assist in career exploration
Support academic progress
Collaborate with staff, care givers, and community agencies
