OMS Grading Policy

• 40% – Classwork
  Daily assignments, group work, and in-class activities that reflect student learning and effort during lessons. Minimum of 2, maximum of 5 per week.
  
  

• 30% – Tests & Projects
  Major assessments and long-term projects that measure overall understanding and application of key concepts. Minimum of 2, maximum of 5 per quarter.
  
  

• 20% – Quizzes
  Short assessments given throughout a unit to check for understanding and help prepare for larger tests.  Minimum of 4, maximum of 10 per quarter.
  
  

• 10% – Participation
  Credit for coming prepared, contributing to discussions, following classroom procedures, and completing warm-ups/exit tickets/etc. Minimum of 2, maximum of 10 points per day.

Missing/Late Work Policy

• Late work is accepted within 5 school days of the due date.
  
  

• A penalty of 2 points will be deducted for each day the assignment is late, up to 5 days; this does not apply to work that is late due to student absences.  This means the maximum score that can be received for an assignment that is 5 days late is a 90.
  
  

• Students who are absent from class for any reason (i.e. illness, trips, appointments, etc) have the same number of days they were absent to submit make-up work.  This includes students who miss class due to late arrivals/early check-outs.  Students are expected to take the initiative to communicate with their teachers regarding work missed due to absences.
