Wednesday's Funeral



Mike Mosher Funeral, Procession & Graveside Service

Funeral:

What: The funeral for Officer Mike Mosher will take place Wednesday, May 13th at 10 a.m. inside the Overland Park Convention Center.

Who: In order to allow for social distancing, the physical space of the funeral is open only to family, friends and members of the Overland Park Police Department.

Coverage opportunities: KCTV5 is the video/live pool and the Kansas City Star is still pool for coverage of this event. There will be audio and video.

Procession:

What: The walking funeral procession will include a riderless horse, glass case hearse, honor guard, bagpipers, police motorcycles and more.

When: The procession will leave the Overland Park Convention Center immediately following the funeral service.

Where: The procession will move west along College Blvd. and then south on Metcalf to the entrance of the Johnson County Funeral Chapel and Memorial Gardens.

Who: The funeral procession for Officer Mike Mosher is open to the public.

Coverage opportunities: College Boulevard and Metcalf will be closed to thru traffic. The public and media are welcome to gather along the procession route.

Graveside Ceremony:

Who: The graveside ceremony is only open to family and friends only.

What: The gravesite ceremony will include:

  • A cannon salute from the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism

  • A United States Honor Flag and folding ceremony

  • Presentation of the flag to Corinne Mosher, Tyler Mosher, and Shellee Mosher

  • A 21-gun salute from the Kansas Highway Patrol

  • Bugles for taps from the Johnson County Sheriff's Office and Kansas City, Kansas Police Department

  • A helicopter flyover from Kansas Highway Patrol and Kansas City, Missouri Police Department

  • An End-of-Watch radio call

  • Bagpipes and drums from area law enforcement agencies

When: Immediately follow procession from the Overland Park Convention Center.

Where: Johnson County Funeral Chapel and Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210

Coverage opportunities: KMBC is the video/live pool and the Kansas City Star is still pool for coverage of this event. There will be video and limited audio at the gravesite. (Map below)

Road Closures

Early Wednesday morning, College Boulevard from Nall to Marty, and Metcalf from 110th to 115th.

110th Street will be open.
