- Volunteer Gigs Down 10% (from 73 in previous school year)
- NOTE: The 2016-17 OPIRG Board cancelled a popular Online History Archive volunteer project which made up 8 of the 2015-2016 volunteer tasks which could account for a drop in available gigs. (i.e. 66+8=74)
Staffing the OPIRG Resource Centre and Multimedia production accounted for half of the volunteer jobs this school year.

The General Volunteer category has grown to create more opportunities for volunteers outside of Working Groups, traditionally where volunteer activity was centred. The contributions of general volunteers support the mission of OPIRG McMaster by taking on a wide range of tasks to enhance organizational capacity, while providing opportunity to advance skills and gain experience. This category of volunteers is very much ad hoc by design, to allow busy students and community members a chance to contribute when they have time and energy.

ISSUE: Having 11 working groups and numerous general volunteers under the direct supervision of one 22-hour per week part-time staff member is difficult to sustain in the short to medium term.

Recording and editing was done using Garageband on OPIRG's iMac. Volunteers gained skills in research, formulating questions, interviewing, editing, creating a logo, and eating biscuits!

All OPIRG volunteers were invited to explore the Art Gallery of Hamilton, followed by dinner at a downtown restaurant, The Capri (where we get our pizza needs met for campus events) and got to see the Capri's famous "Blue Grotto Lounge"
