3rd Grade General Music 

What do we do in 3rd grade Music? 

Through the use of singing, instrument playing and movement the students of 3rd grade deepen their general music knowledge twice a week with Mrs. Ablan. 3rd grade students work hard on music literacy, as we prepare for playing band and orchestra instruments in 4th grade. We also deepen our performing skills by working on many large ensemble songs.  We also focus on deepening our singing skills by expanding our vocal range and sing songs with more complex melodies. Harmony is also explored through the use of cannons. 

In addition to a music focus, my designed curriculum strongly supports the districts Social Emotional Learning standards and Social Justice Standards. 

We also spend time exploring various types of music like music from various cultures around the world, opera, folk and symphonic music.
