The FBI Baltimore Social Media Analysis Response Team will provide an overview of advanced open source research techniques used by the FBI and how local law enforcement can use these tools to support their investigations. The presentation will cover social media aggregators and search tools, IP analysis, image searches, and other best practices. The presentation will culminate with teaching participates how to create a specific Open Source Research Structured Source Plans for their area of responsibility.

This case study examines the 24-hour response, sharing details as they became available to the threat assessment team, highlighting how information and careful analysis can prevent unwanted harm.
