By watching this video and completing the activity, you will explore the amazing diversity of plant species and discover how they adapt to different environments
Canva Activity: Plant Adaptations Visual Poster
After watching the video, reflect on the following questions:
What are the differences between vascular and nonvascular plants?
How does plant structure contribute to the function of photosynthesis?
Why is it valuable to learn about plants and their diversity?
To do:
1. Choose two different plant species known for their unique adaptations. Examples could include cacti with water-storing stems, orchids with aerial roots, or sunflowers with heliotropic behaviour.
2. Create a Visual Poster: Use Canva to create a poster showcasing the selected plant species.
Include colourful images or simple illustrations of each plant species, focusing on their unique adaptations.
Label each plant and describe its adaptation in easy-to-understand language.
For example, explain how each adaptation helps the plant survive in its specific environment.
Once you have completed your visual poster, please share the link to our Google Classroom! Take a moment to explore and compare one of your classmates' posters. Leave a comment on their post to let them (and me) know that you've reviewed their work and learned from their findings!
Learning Goals:
1. Understand the differences between vascular and nonvascular plants and how they get water and nutrients
2. Learn how different parts of a plant help it make food through photosynthesis
3. Discover why it's important to learn about different kinds of plants and how their special features help them survive
