Year 9 introduces students to the four Assessment Objectives which the course is based on: AO1 Research, A02 Development, AO3 Evaluation and AO4 Outcome.
Each Assessment Objective is worth 25% of overall assessment and tasks set build core skills and understanding.
In Year 10, students develop a broad range of graphic communication skills including:
Analysisng commercial graphic work
Working from line drawing to digital outcomes using Photoshop
Exploring moving image processes (painint, photography, stop motion)
These skills support their independent project work leading into year 11.
Students require basic drawing materials including coloured pencils. Access to a digital camera or iPad at home can be helpful but is not essential.
Coursework (60%): Portfolio from two major projects started in year 10 and completed in year 11
Exam (40%): One practical project set in the spring term of year 11 and completed under exam conditions
All coursework must be completed and submitted before the January Year 11 exam period commences
Students must be creative, independent and self motivated, using time outside lessons for research and the development of ideas.
Strong organisational and time management skills will support high-quality coursework and successful independent working.
