You can only pick ONE Design Technology subject from Practical Woodwork, Product Design, Textiles and Food as they have to run at the same time.
Hair and Beauty, Child Care, Hospitality and Construction are taught at UCM. Students will be taken there on a specially charted bus for a morning or afternoon session. You can only take one subject from this box as they all run at the same time.
The ‘Short Course’ Pathway is also taught at UCM (see note 2) and consists of a variety of short courses, some of which are certified at Level 1. You will obtain a variety of useful qualifications/ certificates but it does not lead to a GCSE/ BTEC qualification or equivalent. This course is usually recommended to specific students by Learning Support.
We will try and make the options block we create from this information fit as many people’s preferences as possible.
WE CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT WE CAN GIVE EVERYONE THEIR FIRST FOUR CHOICES. We may have to use one or more of your reserve choices and (very occasionally) have to ask you to think again.
Once options have been allocated, the curriculum programme for Key Stage 4 is finalised and staff are assigned to teaching groups. It is difficult to rearrange individual programmes after this time and we would urge students to consider choices very carefully before submitting their options form.
Any subsequent request to change a subject option must be submitted in writing to Miss Riley by a parent/guardian. If a change is possible at this stage, teaching staff will be consulted before a decision is made; parents will then be informed of this decision in writing.
