KG-1st grade: Attached is an instructional drawing page and idea page for creating robots. With any materials you have, you can follow the instructions step by step to create your robot. To make it your own, you can also use your imagination to add anything you want to either your robot or your background. 1st grade can also practice creating different shades on their robot by pressing harder to create darker shades toward the edges of the robot and lighter to create lighter shades toward the center of the robot. Fading dark shades to light shades can help make the robot look 3D.

nd grade: Here is a link to an instructional video about the artist Kandinsky: https://youtu.be/qXcAkgPKDxc. Like Kandisky, you can listen to different types of music and try to capture what you hear using different types of lines, shapes, colors, and textures. It can be tricky knowing how and where to start, so ask yourself what colors you consider to be calm (ex. Blue, Violet, Pink) and which colors you consider to be energetic (ex. Yellow, Orange, and Red). What do you believe a calm line looks like? What about an energetic line? You are the artist so create what you hear. The project is mixed media so you can use whatever you wish. Try to find some calm music and some energetic music here are some examples. https://youtu.be/aeEmGvm7kDk (energy) https://youtu.be/aBkTkxKDduc (calm) https://youtu.be/g6ociDRDF2Q (energy).

rd grade: Here are some instructional videos about Pablo Picasso: https://youtu.be/r1BdaC_PwC0 and https://youtu.be/RlNf5XZDcQs . I attached a guided drawing to create a picasso style guitar using different shades of blue. Monochromatic means to only use different shades of one color. During Picasso's blue period he only used blue to create a certain emotion. What emotions do you associate with blue? You can also create a drawing linked to happiness or sadness using what you believe to be happy or colors. You can also create a cubist self-portrait from the 2nd video if wish. Different shades of blue can also be created by pressing hard or light with one blue crayon.

th grade: Ed Emberly is famous for illustrating drawing books. Here is a brief video about his story https://youtu.be/gRWXyOsui54 He used only a few lines and shapes such as Squares, Circles, "D's", and diagonal lines. Attached is a picture of his "Alphabet of Shapes." The ship drawing we made last class only used shapes from Emberly's alphabet. Using a pen, pencil, or any art material you can find, create at least 4 interesting drawings of your own, only using shapes from the attached image.

th grade: Attached are different zentangle patterns and examples of a representational zentangles. You can use these patterns or brainstorm you own to create different textures on your design. These designs can be representational or non-representational. The goal is to create different textures. If you wish, you can also continue practicing color theory. If you have multiple colors of pens, crayons, or colored pencils, you try to create a complete color wheel only using red, yellow, and blue. The other colors are created by mixing those 3 colors. I attached an image of a color wheel.

th grade: I attached some different examples of hatching patterns. In the past we have practiced using X's. Changing the direction of the lines can show the 3-D form of an object. You can practice drawing some of the patterns attached to become more comfortable with the process. After that, you can pick an object in your home like a bowl, coffee mug, milk jug, or pitcher to draw. Drawing from observation is very hard so don't stress too much on the accuracy of the drawing. The main focus of this lesson is creating shadows, highlights, and different shades on the object using the hatching technique. I attached an example of a bowl and vase to go off of.
