Indicators of Eligibility

The ALC (Area Learning Center) is an optional education setting for students who have experienced  or are experiencing difficulty in traditional educational systems or who have dropped out of school. The ALC program is an opportunity available to eligible students, based on indicators of need, to help students achieve academic success and complete their education. 


Your student must meet at least one of the following criteria to be eligible for enrollment:


_____ performs substantially below the performance level for pupils of the same age in a locally determined achievement test

_____ is at least one year behind in satisfactorily completing coursework or obtaining credits for graduation

_____ is pregnant or a parent

_____ has been assessed as chemically dependent

_____ is a victim of physical or sexual abuse

_____ has experienced mental health problems

_____ has experienced homelessness sometime in the last 6 months

_____ speaks English as a second language or has limited English proficiency (LEP)

_____ has been excluded or expelled according to MN Statutes section 121A.40 to    121A.56

_____ has been referred by a school district for enrollment in an eligible program or program pursuant to MN Statutes section 124D.69

_____ has withdrawn from school or has been chronically truant

The ALC is located in the ROC building, and is open from 8:15am to 3pm, Monday through Friday.
