Writing and Grammar

Welcome to WRITING AND GRAMMAR

Here at OLP we are fortunate that our students will receive 3 hours a week specific instruction on writing. Writing class is conducted on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.  Students will be exposed to a variety of writing with our main focus on academic essays.  In order to be successful in high school and college, students must have a solid foundation in the writing process and how to compose an essay as a form of communication.  We will follow MLA format and the writing process to construct our essays.  A grade will be given for the process as well as the final paper.  In writing, the essay final is like a test in another content area.  We will spend several weeks learning and growing in our writing skills in order to create a final essay.  Students are expected to show growth from one essay to another.  All essays will remain in their portfolio and given to each student upon exiting 8th grade.
