7th Grade - Math

Class Information

Course Objective:

Pre-Algebra is an introduction to basic Algebra concepts and a review of arithmetic algorithms.  The course emphasizes the concepts necessary to be successful in Algebra I and II.  This course helps students develop good mathematical study skills and learning strategies.  Math must be practiced to be learned.  Students will explore algebraic expressions and integers, solve equations and inequalities, factors, fractions, linear functions, graphing, statistics and geometry.

Assessments: Tests/Quizzes/Projects

Homework: Homework, In-class work, Notes, Projects - some HW will be completion points and some will be graded.  I will always let you know in Sycamore what was scored. They will have homework most nights.  It should not be more than 30 minutes.

Late work will be accepted at half credit and no late work will be accepted after we have tested a concept. 


Course Units:

Integers/Rational Numbers, Surface Area/Volume, Expressions, Transformations, Equations/Inequalities, Angles/Triangles, Ratios/Percent/Proportions, Graphing/Writing Linear Equations, Probability/Statistics, and Exponents/Pythagorean Theorem.
