PTA Event - Oldcastle Rocks Saturday 9th July
Thank you to our wonderful PTA for making Oldcastle Rock last Saturday! The event was a huge success and we are very grateful for the support received from the entertainers, staff and parents helpers - it was a delight to see the school grounds filled with so many people who supported the event. The PTA were delighted to let us know that they raised an amazing £3000 for our school. THANK YOU!
Class Teachers 2022/23
On Thursday 14th July, children found out who their class teacher will be for the next academic year. The new class structure includes a change to the way in which we name a class. From September, classes will be named with the initials from OLDCASTLE PRIMARY and children will stay with the same class letter for their Oldcastle journey. For instance 1D will move to be 2D in September 2023. The class structure can be viewed on our website or via this link Class Structure.
It was the first time in a long while that we were able to have all the children in the main hall for a special assembly. Year 6 took pride of place on the stage and every class cheered and clapped when Mrs Littlewood announced who their class teacher would be from September. Children had the opportunity to visit their new classroom and get to know their new class teacher. Don't worry if you can't remember which class door your child will enter through in September - we will have members of staff on the yard directing you on the first day back in September.
Yesterday, all parents were emailed details of their child's new class teacher, along with a short video from the teachers introducing themselves. These videos are included on our website for you and your child to view in the run up to the start of the school year. Please click on the above link to view the video's.
Barney and the New Curriculum
Children were also been introduced to our new curriculum today and found out how Barney will be helping them in September. Please take a look at the attached document which details our approach to the new curriculum for Wales as well as a reminder of our school values. Finally today children have listened to our Oldcastle Story about how Barney is looking forward to the start of the new school year! Please click the link below to listen to the story.

Pupil Voice
We are nearing the end of our first year with Pupil Champions, Junior Leaders and House captains, and what a year it’s been. All who are involved have worked incredibly hard, they are still working towards finding their individual responsibilities. Like with all strong structures - collaboration takes time. With this in mind, the Pupil Voice members will remain the same for 2022 / 2023. The only changes that will occur are Year 6 Junior Leader roles will be replaced by 2 members of incoming Year 5 and each House Captain from Year 6 will be replaced by incoming Year 5. Applications for this have been shared and we look forward to sharing the updates with you next Friday.
House Tokens
Miss Lincoln and the house captains had the massive task of counting the house tokens today. What a task it was. We will announce the result to pupils and parents next Thursday when we will hold an exciting reward day.
