This class is an accelerated course. It is designed to meet the needs of heritage Arabic speaker students who can understand, speak, read, and write Arabic in simple and complex sentences. Students will use their background knowledge to further develop reading, writing, and grammar skills through hands-on activities related to art, family traditions, food, and music. In addition, students will gain knowledge of Arabic-speaking countries’ cultures, history, and geography. The class is taught entirely in Arabic, and students will increasingly use it to prepare oral presentations, dialogues, role-playing, and other communicative activities. This honors level course gives the students the skills needed to engage in a rigorous and challenging curriculum.

This class is a continuation of the Heritage Speakers’ HONORS program that focuses on developing reading and writing skills for students who already understand, speak, read, and write in Arabic in complex sentences. The students’ knowledge of Arab World’s history, geography, literature, music, and cultures will be deepened. The class is taught entirely in Formal Arabic (fusha), and students will increasingly use it to prepare oral presentations, debates, dialogues, role-playing, and other communicative activities. This honors level course gives the students the skills needed to engage in a rigorous and challenging curriculum.

This class is an accelerated course. It will provide students with an opportunity to further their Arabic language skills and cultural knowledge of Arab World countries with a focus on Formal Arabic (Fusha). Students will expand their vocabulary, grammar, and language structure through lessons and learning activities related to clothes, music, travel, history, geography, jobs and community. Students will engage in reading a variety of cultural and literary texts as well as taking part in the activities related to Arab Cultures. This honors level course gives the students the skills needed to engage in a rigorous and challenging curriculum.

Arabic IV Honors is an accelerated course. The course emphasizes the improvement of both oral and written proficiency in Standard Arabic (Fusha). Students will expand their vocabulary, grammar, and language structure throughout learning activities, such as presentations, discussions, role-play, and compositions related to a variety of topics, such as: traditional markets, Arts, Arabic cinema, and future careers. Students will engage in watching, listening, and reading a variety of authentic texts to deepen their knowledge and appreciation of Arab cultures, tradition, literature, and history. In addition, students will have the opportunity to participate and help organize the school wide Arabic cultural events. This honors level course gives the students the skills needed to engage in a rigorous and challenging curriculum.
