Teachers:
Homework is for practice only on skills already taught.
It cannot be used as a grade and is only used to reinforce and monitor taught skills.
Will provide students with a folder w/pockets to take home and return their homework.
Will communicate with parents the MLK Homework expectations.
Will communicate with students the MLK Homework expectations.
Homework folders will be given out the first day of each week.
EACH FRIDAY will check each student's Homework Log for completion (recommend parent signature).
EACH FRIDAY will check each student's Reading Log for completion (recommend parent signature).
EACH DAY will remind students of the homework they need to complete when they get home.
EACH DAY will remind students of their responsibility for turning in their homework folder on Friday.
EACH FRIDAY will award $5 King Ca$h to students who complete their homework every day.
The consequence for incomplete or missing homework will be no earned King Ca$h for that day. No additional punitive consequences will be given.
At the beginning of each MONTH will provide students with a new Homework Log.
At the end of each MONTH will retain & file each student's monthly homework page in the student's Data Folder to be discussed during Student-Led Conferences by the student.
Will provide students with their SIGHT WORD LISTS (begin with Dolch Lists). As they finish a list they will receive a new list to work on.
Will provide students with a Reading Log as needed.
Students:
On FRIDAY will turn in their homework folder to their teacher as they enter their classroom.
On Monday will take their homework folder home and complete the daily homework assignments:
Read for at least 20 minutes to/with an adult or older sibling and log in Beanstack (if have capability)
Fill out their Reading Log daily
Practice their SIGHT WORD LISTS to/with an adult or older sibling daily
Have parents/guardians sign their Homework Log daily
Have parents/guardians sign their SIGHT WORD LISTS (if they are ready to read to their teacher)
