GRADING

Music Proficiency - How well is the student prepared to perform in class?  Click HERE for the music prep rubric.  This grade is an average of these categories. - 25 points per month​

• ​Advanced = 22+ out of 25

• Proficient = 18-22 out of 25

• Needs Improvement = 0-17 out of 25

Home Practice - Students will have a 5 to 12 point home practice assignment each week.

Rehearsal Etiquette - Does the student attend class regularly and on time?  Are they actively and appropriately engaged in class? - 25 points per month

• ​One point is dropped each time a student does not (among others):

  • Arrive for class and have their instrument ready to play on time.

  • Play their instrument only at the appropriate times.

  • Show kindness and stay quiet at the appropriate times.

Material Preparation - Does the student have their music, pencil, and instrument at rehearsal? - 25 points per month

• ​One point is dropped each time a student does not have the required materials.
