The price for school lunch is established on an annual basis by the School Board. Applications to determine eligibility for participation in the Free and Reduced Lunch Program will be available at the start of the school year.
Breakfast is served each morning in the cafeteria from 7:40 AM to 7:55 AM.
For the duration of a student’s outstanding charge balance A-la-carte items must be paid in full at time of purchase, and all cash money tendered by the student shall be deposited toward the outstanding account balance, UNLESS THE STUDENT HAS EXACT CHANGE FOR THE SNACK OR A LA CARTE ITEM.
Automated messages will be sent out daily and/or weekly to any parent or guardian with a student who has a negative food service account balance exceeding the cost of one reimbursable meal. Under no circumstance will a student be denied meals, regardless of their current balance. The Food Service Director will contact parent or guardian via a letter and by telephone once a student’s negative balance exceeds $25.00.

Cafeteria Behavior
Students are to arrive on time to lunch just as they would any other class period. Students are expected to be cooperative and respectful. Students are prohibited from borrowing money from other students, sharing lunch account numbers, or requesting that another student make a purchase on their behalf. Once finished eating, students will empty and return their trays, dispose of all trash, and clean their tables. In order to leave the Cafeteria prior to dismissal, students must obtain a pass and sign the log. All students will be dismissed at the conclusion of the lunch period by the assigned staff members.
A breakfast meal consists of four (4) or more meal program components offered: a meat/protein, a whole grain/starch, fruit and a milk. A student must take at least three (3) different components, one (1) must be a fruit in order to purchase a meal.
A lunch meal consists of five (5) meal program components offered: a meat/protein, a whole grain/starch, a vegetable, a fruit and a milk. A student must take at least three (3) different components, one (1) must be a fruit or vegetable, in order to purchase a meal. If fewer than three (3) components are chosen a la carte pricing must be charged. Regardless of meal eligibility status (paid/free/reduced), all additional meals on the same day will be sold at a la carte prices Our POS System & Software provides complete confidentiality for all students’ meal status, whether paid, free or reduced.
o Students are issued a Personal Identification Number (PIN) by the OJR School District.
o The PIN and/or student’s last name must be used for all cafeteria POS transactions.
o Student accounts are set up as an Open Account (unrestricted purchases). If you wish, you may set your student’s accounts as Meals Only (no a la carte purchases) or May Not Charge (student would need money on account or cash to make purchases). Please contact the Food Service Office to have these changes made.
o Students are able to purchase or charge a reimbursable meal at each breakfast and lunch. No student will ever be denied a reimbursable meal.
o A la carte items are not sold or charged if a student has insufficient funds to cover the cost of the items they wish to purchase. Students will not be allowed to purchase a la carte items if they do not have the full amount of funds in their account at the time of purchase.

o Deposits to lunch accounts must be made via SchoolPay. We are CASHLESS and cannot accept cash at the cafeteria registers.
o Payments made via SchoolPay may take up to one (1) hour to show in our POS.
o Auto-replenishment or e-mail notifications for a low-balance threshold (designated by the parent) can be set up in SchoolPay.
o Purchase history by student is available on SchoolPay.
o If you must pay by check, checks may be made payable to:
OJRSD Food Service and send in with your student to deposit during their lunch period.
o Checks returned by the bank will be charged-back in full, plus any applicable fees, to the student’s account.
o Food Services reserves the right to insist upon cash or money order payments after a maximum of three (3) returned checks on any student’s account.
o POS Balances are transferred to students’ accounts throughout the District in each successive year.
