Smash Club “promote[s] community through a safe and fun environment for students who enjoy playing Super Smash Bros.” Extracurricular activities are important, they are just that, extra. In order to promote the importance of academics and responsibility, students will be required to maintain a C- or above in all classes in order to attend each week and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
Students are not required to bring any equipment as all gaming equipment is provided by Mr. Phillips. The club will meet on Wednesdays after school until 3:45.
Students will be expected to follow recommended health safety measures.
Depending on club size, attendance may be limited and eligible students will be placed on a randomized rotation.
At the end of the session, students will be expected to leave school grounds. Students that are unable to drive themselves need to arrange transportation to promptly leave school grounds.
Students will be notified on Google Classroom with the schedule and their eligibility based on grades. Grade checks will be completed at the end of the day Tuesday and are based on the current grade in SIS, whether or not grades are up to date. Students need to ensure that they are caught up on all assignments.
In order to maintain membership in good standing Smash Club, students will be expected to:
Respect each other and maintain an environment of good sportsmanship and civility. Trash talk, name calling, etc. will not be tolerated. Students will be asked to leave if they break that rule and shall have one opportunity to improve. Upon the second incident, the student will be barred from attending.
Treat the equipment with respect and care. Mr. Phillips is providing the game, console, controllers, and environment and is doing so as a service. Students who do not treat the equipment with respect will immediately be removed from the room and the club. The club may cease to exist if too many are disrespectful.
Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 and have no current grades below a C-. Current grades will be as reported on SIS, regardless of whether the teacher has updated grades. Student work needs to be turned in on time. The goal is for this to motivate students to achieve in the classes and maintain their academic achievement.
Leave campus promptly following the conclusion of the club meeting. Students who do not drive must arrange transportation in a timely manner. Bus transportation will not be available to students.
Follow the other expectations and requirements of Mr. Phillips.
This club is meant to be a fun, positive experience for students to join a community in the school.
