This course is designed to promote aerobic and muscular endurance with the use of safe and mechanically effective walking techniques. This course will incorporate motivational techniques, pacing and prevention of injuries. Furthermore, this course will enhance the student's practical knowledge of fitness concepts as well as establish a sound, individual exercise program that may be maintained throughout life. The main activity component of this class will be walking. Walking routes will include established campus paths, indoor and outdoor tracks, as well as various routes within the community.
Each day students earned up to 20 points for the following:
Wearing the proper foot attire for walking.
Participation in the day's activity with full effort for the full length of the class period.
Maintain a positive attitude towards coaches, the game, and classmates.
Be a good sport by playing by the rules, being courteous, and competing at the appropriate level.
When a student is absent from class, they are expected to make up for the missed class. For each absence, the student fills out the OGHS Make-up Form. This form includes:
30 minutes of some type of activity (example walking, playing basketball or soccer, etc.)
Their pulse before and after the activity.
A parent/guardian signature declaring that the student has completed the task.
Students have the entire quarter to make-up and turn in the form through google classroom or by email to Coach Sells.
