The overarching goal is to create an equitable pathway to historically disenfranchised populations and support their post secondary goals. This is OFY’s equity initiative to support students and help eliminate the educational gap!
Latinx/African American 10th graders are encouraged to participate.
Students are given swag!
Cohort will meet once a month for 2 hour sessions with School Counselors to ensure they are completing the necessary coursework to stay on track. Each session goes over different themes like character education, college awareness, career interest surveys, grit and more.
They are provided a mentor that will help them with their OFY journey, keep them accountable and provide support when needed.
SA’s and Mentors will help plan (classes, tutors, extra help), communicate expectations, answer questions, and facilitate learning opportunities for students.
School Counselors, Assistant Principals, and Mentors will continuously keep tabs on student progress.
Creates a nurturing and positive environment to engage students.
Provide experiential learning through field trips and standardized testing prep.
Transitions students into CREW.
