The St. Charles Convention Center, opened in April 2005, is a full-service event venue located right next to the Embassy Suites Hotel. It features a 16,200 square foot Grand Ballroom, a 27,600 square foot Exhibit Hall (expandable to about 35,700 sq ft with the adjacent Junior Ballroom), plus multiple meeting rooms of various sizes.
The Convention Center hosts a wide range of events — from trade shows and conventions to corporate meetings, weddings, and community galas.
Interns at this site have the opportunity to work in any of three departments: Event Set Up, Housekeeping, and Food & Beverage.
Interns in this department assist with tasks such as keeping meeting rooms, ballrooms, and common areas spotless, refreshing restrooms, and maintaining the cleanliness of the parking lot and outdoor areas.
Interns in Event Set Up help arrange tables, chairs, dance floors, and staging, assist with room configurations, and ensure spaces are set according to event specifications. They also assist in Housekeeping when needed.
The Food & Beverage Department offers interns hands-on experience in supporting large-scale events. Their responsibilities include setting up table arrangements, polishing silverware, and assisting during events by bussing tables and serving food and drink to guests.
Our internship program would not be possible without the dedication and support of the employees at the St. Charles Convention Center. They play a vital role in guiding and teaching our interns, sharing their knowledge, and providing hands-on training that helps students build real-world skills. Their mentorship not only ensures the success of the program but also creates a positive and encouraging environment for our interns to grow.
Below are some photos of former Mentors of the Year being recognized and awarded certificates for their outstanding commitment.
