The Challenge
"How might we better understand the experiences of African American and LatinX learners?"
"How might we better understand the experiences of African American and LatinX learners?"
Among many minority groups, African American and LatinX students have difficulty accessing specific resources or have troubles with just not being understood in a usual way. When there is no understanding amongst different individuals, issues most certainly begin to evolve, which prolongs time into those issues being resolved.
By having a common understanding amongst people in power (Faculty and Administrators) and students, especially those in the minority communities, less time will be taken to solve issues or grievances. More time will be spent learning and understanding the experiences from both sides.
"The ability to shatter barriers, gateway to productivity, and a path towards a brighter future."
We are trying to design a better-prepared university ready for African American & LatinX Learners so that faculty, administrators, and students can learn from each other's experiences and would be able to benefit from one another.
Our main goal is to get faculty and students involved in the other individual's day-to-day experiences.
We want faculty, students, and administrators to understand each other's experiences and learn from them.
The Shadowing Experience is a program we want to be implemented on campus, we hope to gain a large number of faculty, administrators, staff, and students to be involved. We hope this will begin to change the perspectives of faculty and students of color.
