Abigail Porter, sophomore, does an array of different forms of art. She dabbles in oil pastels, watercolors, and sketching, while also playing multiple instruments like piano, flute, saxophone, etc. Out of the two, she says she loves them both.
“It's hard for me to choose between the two, however I think that I play my instruments more often than I do physical art,” says Porter.
Porter says she has been into these art forms for so long, she isn’t able to remember when she first started, but once she started she fell in love with the beauty of creation.
“Now I do art because I like being able to make things and spend time on projects,” said Porter.

Story by Andrea Pfetsch
Maggie Carrigan, freshman, is a young artist. She does digital art pieces and has been working since she was 10 years old. Carrigan finds inspiration in her different interests like video games, Pinterest posts, and stories she’s read.
Art is her way of getting the freedom to express herself in a way she wishes to and allowing herself to be unique without the stress of being judged.
“Art has always been a way for me to tell stories with colors instead of words. Whether with paper or a screen, art is a method in which I can express feelings, emotion, and stories without having to worry about whether my punctuation is correct or not,” said Carrigan.
Carrigan says that while she believes she’s a great artist for her age, she still wants to work and improve.
