Now that you have learned more about the laws and procedures in place to protect you, let's discuss the actual hazards that may exist in your workplace.
Before we begin, consider your morning routine. Does it look something like this?

Your day is simply filled with dangers and hazards that you don't even think about!
Brushing your teeth: if you ingest/swallow too much toothpaste, you have to call poison control. This is a chemical hazard!
Cooking breakfast: a kitchen fire is a real danger that you face whenever you fire up that stovetop. Oil (and eggs) are flammable!
Using stairs: could you trip or fall on those steps or stairs? Yes! This is a real danger that we try to mitigate with handrails, but you should always be careful.
Crossing the street: those cars, bikes, and city busses are a hazard to each other and to pedestrians.
Your workplace, even if it seems like a very safe place like an office builiding or a school, has a number of hazards that you should be aware of so that you can keep yourself safe.
Are there any workplaces that are absolutely free of hazards?
Record your answer in your Student Workbook.
