The supervisor is the primary connection between the employer and the employee. It is part of their duty to make sure that safety rules are being followed at the workplace.
Ensure that workers perform their tasks safely and follow the safety instructions.
Inform workers about potential or actual hazards that exist in the workplace and provide information, instructions, and supervision as needed.
Make sure that workers actually use required protective equipment and safety devices properly.
Immediately investigate and report all reported injuries, accidents, and incidents.
The employee has a responsibility to work safely for themselves and their coworkers.
Participate in creating and maintaining a safe workplace.
Follow all health and safety instructions given by the employer or supervisor.
Wear and use the protective equipment and safety devices provided to them.
Immediately report any safety hazards, "close calls," or injuries they see or experience to their supervisor.
Employees must not engage in dangerous horseplay, pranks, or practical jokes that could cause injury.
The more authority a person has (employer has the most), the more legal responsibility they carry, but everyone is expected to contribute to a culture of safety. The OHSA gives everyone a role to play in protecting themselves and each other
