Concussions Requiring Emergency Services
These are Concussion Red flags:
Loss of consciousness (knocked out)
Deteriorating conscious state
Vomiting more than once
Increasingly restless, agitated or angry
Increasingly confused
Neck pain/tenderness
Double vision
Weakness or tingling in arms or legs
Severe or increasing headache
Seizure or convulsion
If any of the above symptoms are showing, the concussed person needs to go to an emergency room right away. They may have an injury that goes beyond a mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI) and into full Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
Remember that melon head boy that was seeing double? He definitely should have been taken to emergency to be checked out.
Below are longer explanations of what some of the red flag symptoms might look like.
