Address the teacher as a responsible well composed adult, before you blame them for anything - ask them. Most of the time the child involved was not capable of explaining the situation clearly. Cool off – remember you are the adult. Right???
Threatening the teachers job . The teacher will not loose their job because your child failed to follow instructions. Most of the time the teacher will be lenient and understanding – so before you threaten them, inquire - politely.
Angry emails are a WASTE OF TIME for everyone involved. Think about what you're emailing to someone before you hit send -You'll save time and more importantly save face.
Remember you are the ADULT consider carefully what your child is saying to you and understand that the teacher has to deal with several hundred students each day. The teacher can’t possibly manage them all 100% of the time. Think clearly before you jump to anger and assumptions.
It’s YOUR child's teacher! KNOW your child’s teachers classroom policies! Your first interaction with your child’s teacher should NEVER be threats or anger. Most teachers go above and beyond every day to instruct and gauge your child’s progress via state standards, extensive training, grading and lesson planning on top of everything else they have to do – so show respect where it is due.
ZERO'S IN THE GRADEBOOK are an indication the work was not completed/submitted and the teacher is waiting for the work. A zero is not a tattoo nor is it life shattering in any way shape or form- BE CALM. It can be remedied with a simple act of submitting the work within a REASONABLE time frame. REMEMBER its the teachers job to put in grades - they don't GIVE zero's . Zero's are earned by not following instruction's. If your child has a zero gather more information with a simple respectful inquiry by emailing or calling the teacher.
EXCUSED Absences will grant the student 5 days to submit their work. Makeup work is not allowed during class as they will fall behind by doing so. Makeup work is for before or after school.
Most of the time Im pretty lenient with makeup work however if your child comes to me a month later wanting to suddenly make changes to their grade then its best you become involved and become part of that discussion to help figure out why the work was not done.
I utilize GOOGLE CLASSROOMS for assignment/projects posts and rubric grading.
