The Learning Commons offers an inclusive venue for social/collaborative learning and presentations to individuals or groups. Flexible furniture creates learning pods for a welcoming, well-designed space with a variety of work areas that can change with the needs of its users.
The Learning Commons provides high quality resources in both print and digital formats that reflect students' diverse interests and abilities, and teachers' instructional needs. Students will be inspired to ask questions and create unique solutions by using current and emerging technology Adequate funding will ensure these resources are available for all.
Makerspaces are a student's destination for learning, creating, designing, sharing and innovating to generate and further student competencies and interests in STEAM. Through participation and hands-on activities, students will take command of their own learning.
Pedagogial Practices - The Learning Commons provides resources and alternate learning environments to support pedagogical practices for staff, students, and parents.
Partnerships - The Learning Commons' staff establish partnerships with colleages, public libraries, authors, and the wider community, to provide students with the widest possible knowledge base for learning. Actively collaborates with the school administration to create an environment that fosters joint planning between the Learning Commons' staff and teachers.
Learning Environment - The Learning Commons is an interactive and student-centered hub that develops the Global Competencies of Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, Critical Thinking, Character and Citizenship through the use of innovative ideas and creative spaces.
Leveraging Digital - The Learning Commons' staff, model appropriate digital citizenship and online research practices. They are guides to staff and students for access to technology, databases, and resources to enhance learning opportunities.
