Religion

At St. Pius X we endeavour to provide a distinctive faith-based educational experience that includes courses in Religious Education that serve both an educational and religious purpose. The religion courses offered at St. Pius X develop students’ religious literacy of not just the Catholic faith but also an understanding of the faith traditions of other World Religions. Students are also offered the option of learning and studying philosophy in Grade 12.

The gospel values of faith, hope, love, community, the dignity of persons, excellence, justice, and stewardship for creation permeate the culture of St. Pius X. These gospel themes serve as reminders of the Christian calling to the community.

Our religious curriculum also strives to respect the universal values of all faiths, grounded in Catholic principles. We help students develop their understanding of different views, ideas and concepts, in an environment where students learn to show respect to those who may think differently from them.

Finally, the religion curriculum is designed to reflect the Ontario Catholic Graduate Expectations, as seen in the picture to the left.
