Experiential Learning - World Religions

The Religion Department at St. Pius X strives to provide opportunities for students to engage intellectually, creatively, emotionally, and socially with the curriculum. Experiential learning is a crucial aspect towards achieving this goal. In Grade 11 students take the Faith and Culture: World Religions Course and when circumstances allow we try to provide an experiential learning event to foster understanding and goodwill between local faith communities. This is done through a field trip that visits local places of worship such as a mosque, a synagogue, a Sikh temple and a Hindu temple. Students participate in and learn about the customs and rituals these faiths practice and partake in a question and answer session with a leader of each faith community.
