Character Counts at OLV

Welcome to our school hub!

Welcome to Our Lady of Victory's Character Counts Hub!

At OLV, we believe in nurturing not just academic excellence but also the development of strong character in our students. Our Character Counts Program is working on essential qualities that go beyond the classroom, shaping well-rounded individuals who are compassionate, respectful, and collaborative.

Character development connects to the OCSB's Deep Learning Framework (https://www.ocsb.ca/why-ocsb/deep-learning/) by emphasizing the importance that character education plays in shaping well-rounded individuals. Through the shared learning environment, and effective lessons, students will learn all about character development, such as respect, empathy, collaboration etc. Buddy Days also help achieve the Catholic Graduate Expectations (https://www.ocsb.ca/why-ocsb/faith/) for our students by promoting social responsibility, effective communication and a collaborative contributor.

Each month, we focus on a specific character value during our Buddy Days, dedicating time and resources to in meaningful activities, discussions, and projects that highlight the importance of these virtues. Each primary class is paired with a junior class to work together each month on a theme related to our character.

This website is our window into these Buddy Days at OLV. Here, you'll find updates on the monthly character values, glimpses of the projects our students are working on, and resources to help learn more and internalize these values.

As parents, you play a crucial role in reinforcing these character values at home. We encourage you to explore the resources on this website, engage in conversations with your children about the monthly values, and join us in fostering a positive and supportive community.

Thank you for partnering with us on this journey!
