We have launched our Peer Mentoring Program here at Our Lady of Victory! We are working on fostering valuable skills and enriching the learning experience of our students. Led by our Grade 6 students, this program aims to promote collaboration, sportsmanship, and essential social skills through engaging clubs and games for their primary peers.
By allowing older students to guide and mentor their younger peers, we are creating a supportive environment where every child has the opportunity to grow and succeed.
Here's what we are working on in our Peer Mentoring Program:
Collaborative Learning: Through various clubs and activities, students will work together to solve problems, complete tasks, and achieve common goals. This collaborative approach not only enhances academic learning but also cultivates teamwork and communication skills.
Learning to Lose: Losing is an inevitable part of life, and learning to handle defeat is an essential skill. Our mentors will help younger students understand the importance of resilience, sportsmanship, and the value of perseverance, whether they win or lose.
Turn-Taking: Taking turns is a fundamental aspect of social interaction and cooperative play. By participating in structured games and activities, students will learn the importance of waiting patiently, sharing, and respecting each other's time and space.
We believe that this Peer Mentoring Program will not only benefit our students academically but also contribute to their overall social and emotional development. By fostering a sense of community and support among students of all ages, we aim to create a positive and inclusive school environment where everyone feels valued and supported.
We encourage you to talk to your child about their experiences in the Peer Mentoring Program and to support their participation in these enriching activities. Together, we can empower our students to become confident, empathetic, and collaborative individuals.
