Building Bridges through Understanding and Action
How can we think more deeply about situations and understand different points of view?
How can we use what we learn today to make choices that show more kindness?
How can we work together to solve problems at OLV?
Choose Kindness Challenge
1. Opening Circle (10 minutes)
Buddy pairs discuss:
What does it mean to think before we act?
Can you think of a time someone used understanding and kindness to make things better?
2. Scenario Stations (30 minutes)
Set up 3–4 stations with real-life scenarios- here is the link. Please print 4 times and cut up!
Examples:
A friend is being left out of a game
The yard is messy after recess
Someone forgot their lunch
Your group disagrees on what to do for a project
At each station, buddies:
Read or listen to the scenario
What’s the problem? What’s fair or unfair?
What could we do to help?
Write, draw or act out a positive action.
Older buddies can write a short reflection: “Understanding helps me take action by…”
Younger buddies can draw or dictate their response.
3. Reflection and Sharing (10 minutes)
Pairs share their favorite scenario and what they learned about “thinking before acting.”
