Objective:
By the end of the buddy day session, students will be able to understand the concept of self-confidence, identify strategies to boost self-confidence, and demonstrate empathy and support towards their peers in building self-confidence.
Lesson Plan:
1. Introduction (10 minutes):
Gather all students together and introduce the concept of self-confidence. Explain that self-confidence is about believing in oneself and one's abilities. Please be sure to specifically talk about **Believing in Yourself**. You can show the following video (or part of):

Ask students to share their thoughts on what self-confidence and believing in yourself means to them. Write down their responses on the large paper or whiteboard.
2. Buddy Pairing (5 minutes):
Pair older students with younger students. Ensure that each older student is responsible for guiding and supporting their younger buddy throughout the activities.
3. Discussion (15 minutes):
Lead a guided discussion on self-confidence. Use questions such as:
What are some examples of times when you felt confident?
Can you think of a time when you doubted yourself? What helped you overcome it?
How do you think self-confidence affects your ability to try new things or face challenges?
Do you believe in yourself?
Encourage both older and younger students to share their thoughts and experiences.
4. Self-Confidence Boosting Activities (20 minutes):
Activity 1: "Compliment Circle"
Have students sit in a circle with their buddies.
Each student takes turns giving a genuine compliment to the person sitting next to them. Encourage specific compliments related to strengths or positive traits.
Activity 2: "Positive Affirmations Cards"
Provide index cards or small pieces of paper to each pair.
Have students create positive affirmation cards for themselves and their buddy. They can write affirmations such as "I am capable," "I am brave," etc.
Activity 3: "Role-Play Scenarios"
Prepare role-play scenarios related to situations where self-confidence might be challenged (e.g., trying out for a sports team, making new friends).
Assign roles to each pair and have them act out the scenarios, focusing on how they can support each other and demonstrate self-confidence.
OR they can create posters with positive affirmations (we have done posters for each buddy block, so was trying to think of something different!)
Reflection and Sharing (10 minutes):
Gather students back together as a group.
Ask a few pairs to share their strengths posters or positive affirmations with the class.
Facilitate a brief discussion on how these activities made them feel and any insights gained about self-confidence.
Conclusion and Wrap-Up (5 minutes):
Recap the key points discussed during the buddy day session about self-confidence and believing in yourself.
Congratulate students for their participation and efforts in supporting each other.
Extension Activity (Optional):
Encourage students to continue practicing self-confidence by setting personal goals and supporting each other in achieving them. They can keep a journal to track their progress and reflections on their journey towards greater self-confidence.
