Instrumentalists To Listen To - Develop Your Sound
Listening to professional and mature musicians that have developed their sound over the years is a great way for you to develop YOUR own, beautiful sound!
As we often set goals for ourselves academically and physically (in sports, etc.), it is helpful to have a 'goal sound' that you want to achieve when playing your instrument. The clearer that sound is within your head, the better you will become at adjusting and becoming closer to that sound on your own.
All you have to do is listen!
See the Google Sheet embedded in the site below for suggested listening from OCHS students and Oak Creek directors. There are columns for each instrument, and different genres for some (Classical vs. Jazz), as well as large group sounds (woodwind groups, brass groups, etc.).
Click on the artists below to get directed to a YouTube of them. If you want to listen to more, YouTube may have helpful suggestions and / or playlists of these artists. Or continue the search on your own at local area music stores, iTunes, and YouTube!
