This Month In History - November

By: Aiden E. from the Hummingbird Post

On the 8th of this month in 1942, The Allies (America, Britain, Canada, France, etc.) got ready for Operation Torch, where they would try to capture North Africa from the rule of the Axis (Germany, Italy, Japan, etc.). It was the peak of World War 2.

The allies landed on the beaches in little boats with a ramp on the front. Upon hitting the beach, the ramp would lower down and all the soldiers would run out.

The Eastern Force went for Algiers, in Algeria. The Center Force went to Oran, also in Algeria. The Western Force went for cities in Morocco, such as Casablanca, Sali, and Meridia. But the Allies successfully captured North Africa and ended up contributing to winning the war!
