Project Goal

Our Experiment was that we used the prototype(Industrial Robot Arm) to try Lifting, Moving, Stacking Blocks. We recorded the reaction time, weight of the each block and used different shapes of blocks . Our aim for this project was to make it capable as an astronaut like picking up things, moving around, etc. So that we can replace robonauts for astronauts.

This was our mission because we can filter the trials and find out the best of the arm, this can lead to many options like upgrading the arm with design, functionality, Aesthetics, Code, Productivity, with the use of these information we can get to know what best for the planet according to its Terrain,Temperature, Climate (Srujan)

Action

We Made about 8-10 trials of different blocks, we measured the weight of the blocks and the reaction time it took to stack, move, Build, Push the blocks.The robot was made a pre-Built meaning it was a kit where we got Ready-Made parts so that we can make it easily, now don't let that fool you because we had to screw the smallest bolts and nuts on the planet which was very hard to put them together we used our Grade 9 Science lesson from Electricity, Micro-Bits, where we used to power the arm through a 9 volt HV Battery and had to power the Arduino IDE by a chromebook. And we also used that information to see the qualitites of Mars and conditions of it.(Srujan)

Reflection

How does your project fit or connect with the other projects in the class? Are we living sustainably on your chosen planet.
The project fits in perfectly as our original project was Space suits we decided to go will robotics. We think sending robots to space is less riskier then sending humans to space. The robots can last out there longer without having to eat, sleep or go to the washroom and they can even get into to smaller areas then humans could.
How successful was your action (its OK if it didn't go as planned)? Did you meet your goal? We met our with finishing the robot within the time we had to build it.
What contributed to your groups success (or lack of success)? The success from our group was just overall working together figuring out what we could do to make things easier and better.
What would you do differently if you could? If I could do anything differently I would say that we slowed down and took more time to work on certain areas of the robot to make sure everything is placed correctly and works properly.

Where it could go next?

We have different ideas if we were to take this prototype or this idea, would be to make it bigger or make the claws tighter to grab heavy things with strong grip, make the functionality even more better to unleash more and smoother performance at each given task

Creating and upgrading this idea or the prototype can open many doors for the upcoming generation/Students

I think implementing and getting this idea more further is better because, when we think about space suits we always think about astronauts but I our goal was to change that mindset and apply robotics to this idea because reduces way lot of human risk than you think. Humans need Oxygen(O2 ) where robots don't need, Humans need a return trip to earth but these robonauts can stay there forever, they don't have human qualities like getting injured, Hunger, Thirst, Defecation(Releasing Feces) and it also reduces the cost of making space suits
1 space suit costs about $15-20 Million Dollars and lets say you need 4 space suits fore each astronaut it takes 80 Million Dollars where you can do more things with this money
We can take this project to the next level by knowing more about Mars and its terrain,weather, Climate and region (Srujan)

What did you Learn

Each member of the group should reflect on what they learned. You may have learned some neat stuff about science, but you also learned some other great skills like time management, goal setting, collaboration, and problem solving.

Srujan- In this project i learned how to problem solve things the right way and how to find out what the problem was and i also learned How to work with people and respect each other and their work, learnt the usage of robonauts in Mars and how it can be use to reduce human risk, i studied more about arduino board and their respective extension boards depending on what kind of prototype you are doing.How to create circuits, use resistors, and get introduced to Ohm's law while building a series of cool projects and experiments .I learned efficiency in submitting assignments, meeting goals before deadlines

Keegan- In this project I learned to work together in a school and classroom setting more smoothly. We had times that things would work out right and there were some times that things went wrong so that's when we worked together and solved the problem, I learnt how to work with classmates better and respecting their style of doing work and thinking.
