Student Names: Maddie, Scarlett, & Rachel
What was the mission or aim of your project?
The aim of our project was to find the perfect space suit suitable for any weather situation without fear of safety. We were testing specifically how much hot, cold and wind the perfect space suit could take.
Why was this you mission?
We wanted to make a space suit perfect for anything so more people can go up in space without worry to find out more information on mars. The overall goal was to make a space suit that can withstand any and every temerature Mars has to offer.
What action/experiment did you take?
The action we took was that we all tested our own experiments on how much certain materials could withstand for different weather conditions. Some of us tested different materials to see which one worked best.
How did you use what you learned in grade 9 science in the design?
How to measure wind, heat and cold. Also how to look for physical and chemical changes. We also used a bit of our spcae unit by knowing what its like on mars weather wise.

How does your project fit or connect with the other projects in the class? Are we living sustainably on your chosen planet.
Our project fits because it will make sure in any situation you are comfortable and safe. We will live sustainably on mars with our space suit.
How successful was your action (its OK if it didn't go as planned)? Did you meet your goal?
Our action was succesful. We met our goal as well by finding out how much wind, heat and cold our matericals can stand.
What contributed to your groups success (or lack of success)?
What contributed to our success was having our own experiments to conbind in the end to have even more information. Lack of success was not working together on some things.
What would you do differently if you could?
We would try eachothers materials in in our situations like Rachel would use maddies tinfoil and test that in cold for example.
Pitch a next phase for your project.
We thought that this was a fun experiment that made you think of cool things to try out with no worries about safety during experiments
Inspire a future group of students to pick up where you left off.
They could take it further and get a real space suit and test heat, cold and air on it in a more accurate situation like bring it to windier, colder and hotter places. If bringing it to different places isn’t possible they could think of more difficult experiments
Why is this an important cause? Why should they continue with it?
This is important because it will keep everyone safe. They should continue with it so were prepared for things you wouldnt expect on mars.
Where would you like to see it go next.
We would like to see real astronauts try to design the perfect space suit and see if theres was similar to ours.
Each member of the group should reflect on what they learned. You may have learned some neat stuff about science, but you also learned some other great skills like time management, goal setting, collaboration, and problem solving.
All together we agreed we learned that time management if very important with a big project like this with tons of due dates. We also agree that goal setting is ideal to help reach the best work we could achieve.
Some things we learned about our prdject:
One thing we learned while doing this project, is that nothing always goes the way that you want. You have to keep trying, and each time you try you get one step closer to your goal, and a better experiment. While doing this project we learned that there are so many different functions to a great space suit. We realised that in order to make the perfect space suit, we had to deal with a few different tasks. Each of us took on a different task in order to complete this project. This is why we split up the work into 3 main groups: heat, cold, and wind.
Rachel was in charge of cold. Her idea was to see how cold a plastic bag can get before it can’t see through the greyscale.
Maddie was in charge of wind. Her goal was to see how much the foil could stand againts wind gusts.
Lastly...
Scarlett was in charge of heart. Her objective was to see how hot fleece and a copper sheet can get within a certain amount of time, and which one would get hotter.
