Welcome to Kindergarten at Steve MacLean P.S.!

The first day of Kindergarten is Tuesday, September 6th. All students attend on this day.

We are so glad you are here! We are so excited to welcome you to our S.M.P.S. family. Kindergarten is such a special time in a child's life, and we are honoured to embark on this learning journey with your family. In the pages of this website, you will find information to guide you as you prepare for your child's first year of school. Our priority is and will continue to be a safe and positive Kindergarten experience for our students and families.

We look forward to meeting families at our Classroom Showcase evening later in September. You will have an opportunity to meet members of your child's educator team and see their classroom in person! We will confirm the date with you in the next few weeks.

Some fun facts about Kindergarten:

• Kindergarten is a two-year, full-day program with classes composed of students in Year 1 and Year 2

• Each Kindergarten class has an educator team that includes Teachers and Early Childhood Educators

• Kindergarten is a bilingual, play-based program where students are exposed to both French and English

• Extended Day Program (EDP) is a fee based program that is offered before and after school. Early Childhood Educators who work in the Kindergarten classes during the school day are part of the EDP program, providing a seamless day for students

• Kindergarten is the best place to be!
