Arrival and Dismissal

The First Day of School:

September 1st 2026

Your child's first day of school can be an emotional one for everyone! We understand, and are here to support your family. Our recommendation is to quickly and confidently say goodbye on the first day of school (and every other day, too!) This lets your child know that you believe them to be safe and in good hands (trust us - they are!). The longer you stay around after drop-off, the more difficult it can be for your child. Though they may cry when you leave, we will help them! Goodbyes get easier as children learn what school is all about and how much fun they have with friends and educators!

Safe Arrival and Dismissal

School starts at 9:10am and ends at 3:40 pm.

Drop off time: 8:55-9:10 am

Pick up time for Kindergarten: 3:25-3:40pm

If your child will be absent from school for part or all of the day, please use the "School Messenger" Safe Arrival app on our website to let us know.

If there is a change in your child's dismissal information (e.g., someone new will pick them up, they will not take the bus today, etc.) please let us know. For same day changes, please call the school office.

Walking or Driving to School

Please note that the loop beside the Kindergarten gate on Goldeneye is only for Canyon Walk Daycare.

We have Kindergarten educators supervising the yards between 8:55am and 9:10am for drop off.

Please arrive by 9:10 am so that your child can start their day with their class. Routines are so important in Kindergarten!

Sun Wing Students (Pink Stars, Red Stars and Yellow Stars) drop off at the Back Kindergarten Yard. When it is raining heavily or very cold (-25 or below) arrival/drop off is at door G.

Moon Wing Students (Blue Stars, Orange Stars, Green Stars, and Purple Stars) drop off at the Front Kindergarten Yard. When it is raining heavily or very cold (-25 or below) arrival/drop off is at door B.

All Kindergarten students can be picked up at the back Kindergarten yard between 3:25 and 3:40.

Bus Information

The"Parent Portal" will give you access to your child's transportation information and eligibility.
The OSTA site will typically indicate if there are any delays for bus times throughout the year.
If your child will be taking the bus, it is important that all current information be updated with the transportation authority directly www.ottawaschoolbus.ca or 613-224-8800

Bus Arrival and Dismissal

In the morning, an educator will meet your child at the bus and escort them to the front Kindergarten yard.
At dismissal time, an educator will bring your child to their bus.

Bus Routines and Safety

An adult is required to bring Kindergarten students to and pick them up from the bus stop. We will put a yellow tag on their backpack to identify them as Kindergarten students.
Please arrive at the stop 5-10 minutes early.

Extended Day Program (EDP)

To register for the EDP program, please visit the OCDSB website

This is a fee-based program, run by the Early Learning Department of the OCDSB. The program is staffed by our ECE (Early Childhood Educator) and EDP staff.

If your child is registered in AM EDP, they can be dropped off between 7:00 and 8:45 am. Entry is through the parking lot / basketball court door.

If you child is If your child is registered in PM EDP, they can be picked up between 3:45 and 6:00pm. Pick-up is through the parking lot / basketball court door.
