Beginning fluency for the group was 47.5%. This means that as a group the students knew 47.5% of their math facts fluently.
At the conclusion of the Green Light Challenge, the group fluency has increased to 65.5%. Indicating the group now knows 65.5% of their math facts fluently.
This represents an improvement of 18%.
The usage to fluency relationship is clear. Towards the end of February, usage and fluency rose dramatically. This coincided with two events.
Student specific data was shared with parents along with a request for parents to support and encourage the use of Reflex at home.
The Junior Green Light Challenge was announced. It began April 1, 2021.
From the earliest data grab on October 9, 2020 to March 1, 2021 (5 months) this group gained 184 fluent facts. This translates to an average gain of 8 facts per student. Of the possible 325 math facts, the equates to a fluency gain of 2% per student over 50% of the school year.
From March 1, 2021 to May 7, 2021 (the conclusion of the Green Light Challenge), the group had gained an additional 739 fluent facts. This translates to an average gain of 32 facts per student. Of the possible 325 math facts, the equates to a fluency gain of 10% per student over an eight week period.
Lower usage accounts for the minimal increase in fluency gain. In this group, 96% of students used Reflex less than the recommended 3x per week.

The amount students practice their math skills directly impacts their achievement.
Parental support of practice at home and an ongoing school based focus on math facts result in increased fluency.
Fact fluency leads to an overall increase in achievement in Mathematics and also leads to a decrease in anxiety often seen associated with Mathematics.
