A photo of your family that can be used on our classroom family tree.
This year we are NOT asking students to bring in individual pencil cases with supplies. However if you would like to donate school supplies (crayons, pencil crayons, markers, white board markers, large glue sticks, erasers) it would be much appreciated.
Please keep all toys and special belongings at home
Your child may be small, but make sure their backpack is big! They will be keeping their lunch box, water bottle, extra layers and artwork in there. It is much easier to independently pack a large backpack.
Have your child practice putting their lunch bag, water and maybe a sweater into their backpack. Larger things go in first and the bag should be fully unzipped to fit everything inside. This is a key skill to practice over the summer.
A day in kindergarten is very busy. There are two nutrition breaks during the day so make sure to pack enough healthy food to last your child all day. A reusable water bottle is also needed. All food must be NUT FREE.
A large washable lunch bag that can easily accommodate several smaller separate containers or a bento box is ideal. Make sure items are labeled and containers/packages easy for your child to open and close (however an educator will be present to help). This helps to build independence.
We always spend lots of time outside, even on rainy days. Rain makes puddles and puddles are so much fun! So, investing in rain boots and a one-piece rain suit or splash pants and jacket is highly recommended. You can find some great items at second hand stores.
Make sure your child wears practical shoes to school and that they can be taken on and off easily by your child. This means stay away from lace up shoes and ones that don't open wide enough to easily slip on your child's feet.
For hot sunny days make sure you have a hat and sunscreen. We ask students not to bring spray sunscreen (slippery floors and irritating fumes). Many students have success with stick sunscreen. Have your child practice applying sunscreen this summer.
