Grades 9 & 10

In general, Grades 9 & 10 are primarily focused on the development of proper, healthy vocal technique, including posture, stance, breathing, and vowel/mouth shape, as well as performance etiquette and stage comportment. On a daily basis, students use sol-fa syllables, rhythm counting, sight-reading, and IPA symbols.

CHOIR

In grades 9 & 10, Vocal students participate in either Intermediate Treble Choir (soprano & alto voices) or Male Chorus (tenor & bass voices). Ensemble singing is an integral part of life at Canterbury and it instills an incredible sense of community. Students will be placed in the appropriate section of the appropriate ensemble at the beginning of each year.

Intermediate Treble Choir rehearses each Wednesday morning (7:45-9:00AM) and has sectional rehearsal each Thursday  (11:45AM-12:15PM).

Male Chorus rehearses each Monday (7:45-9:00AM) and has sectional rehearsal each Wednesday  (11:45AM-12:15PM).
