Research the prerequisites for college and/or university programs and/or the apprenticeship pathway you are considering.
Apply to college and/or university programs by the application deadline:
Ontario Colleges: February 1, 2026 for Equal Consideration
Ontario Universities: January 15, 2026
Check the admissions information on the website of each college and/or university to which you are applying in order to ensure you meet the deadlines for any additional application requirements they may have (i.e., Personal Statement of Experience, interview, audition, portfolio, etc.)
Research and apply for scholarships, awards, and bursaries. If you require a reference letter for a particular scholarship or award, please ensure you give your referee enough time to write a letter for you and to mail in your completed application.
Apply for financial aid (OSAP) on time. It is recommended to apply for OSAP by June 15 to guarantee your loan/grant is available before the start of the next school year.
Accept your offer of admission by:
Ontario Colleges: May 1, 2026
Ontario University: June 1, 2026
Transcript Requests:
The Ontario Student Transcript (OST) is a comprehensive record of a student’s overall secondary school achievement and provides a record of standing with regard to the secondary school diploma requirements.
You may need a copy of your transcript when you are applying for:
Some jobs (ie: Military Reserves)
Scholarships
Post-secondary schooling outside of Ontario
