At the start of the year in PD, all students in all year groups had a “Back to school after Covid” lesson. They were able to discuss the positive and negative impacts of lockdown and look at ways to stay safe over the next few weeks and months. We debunked myths and looked at the science behind how viruses spread.
After this students in Year 10 have been taking part in lessons around the topic of emotional health. They have been looking at practical ways to manage anger and other strong emotions. They have been taking part in activities that help them promote a growth mindset and resilience. They are also looking at the effect of social media on mental health and how to address this. These are skills that are especially important in current times.
In Year 11 students have been looking into the topic of financial wellbeing. They have been working on making their own budgets, learning the difference between credit and debit and planning for the future.
In Year 9 students have been discussing the concept of evil and suffering. They have been taking part in philosophical discussions and debates about the paradox of omnipotence and relating these ideas to Christianity and the answers that Christians have to these complicated concepts.
In Year 8 students have been learning about all things Hindu. They have found out about Hindu beliefs and practices and how Hindus practice their faith in the UK.
In Year 7, students have been learning about what belief is all about, how mythical stories affect our lives and the importance of tradition and customs.
