History A Level is a two-year linear course.
Students will take the AQA A Level and there will be three ‘components’ over the two year course.
Component 1 and 2 will be studied together throughout Year 12 and 13. This means lessons will be split three periods each between your two teachers.
Component 3 , your individual coursework piece, will be started in the summer term of year 12 and will be studied (largely independently) over the summer and into the first term of year 13.
Paper 1 (Above) - Russia. Paper 2 (Below) - Britain.
Part one: Autocracy, Reform and Revolution: Russia, 1855–1917
1. Trying to preserve autocracy, 1855–1894
2. The collapse of autocracy, 1894–1917
Part two: the Soviet Union, 1917–1964
3. The emergence of Communist dictatorship, 1917–1941
4. The Stalinist dictatorship and reaction, 1941–1964
As part of your ‘non-examined assessments’ students will invited to look at changes and continuities of Jamaican-British relations between 1760 and 1870. This was a period of immense change on the face of it – as the Slave Trade and the Slavery itself was abolished on the island. However how much really changed?
